Aurélien Dony studied at the Athénée Royal Adolphe Sax in Dinan before obtaining a degree in literature and ethics from the Haute-École Charlemagne in Liège. Then he studied theater at the Conservatoire Royal in Brussels. Having mainly Henri Michaux as a model, he entered into literature early, at the age of eighteen and he published a first collection entitled Il n’y aura plus d’hiver (There will be no more winter). In 2013, he won the Georges Lockem award of the Belgian Royal Academy of French Language and Literature, which is awarded to a poet under the age of 25, for his second collection entitled Puisque l’aube est défaite (After Dawn Was Defeated). The jury, consisting of Eric Bronier, Jacques Cricket and Claudine Goto-Mers, justifies its choice by stating that "[his] poetry reflects an inner imperative truth expressed in a poetic world in the making". The collection was published the following year by Mode Est-Ouest, with a preface by Jean Loubry. In 2016, he published his third collection of poetry Au seuil d’un autre corps (On the doorstep of another body) by Le Coudrier and almost at the same time a novel co-written with Claude Rossi. The latest, entitled Le temps des noyaux (The Time of the Cores), tells the story of a impossible homosexual love affair, in 1918. In early 2018, Dony published his fourth poetry collection, called Io, la belle (Io, the beautiful) and has as its main theme migration. Sensitive to this social issue, the young poet announced that he is donating his copyright to the citizens' platform that raises aid for refugees in Brussels. An audio excerpt from the collection, which he recites, was published in September 2018 on the SonaLitté platform. The track was also broadcast by Radio Panik and Radio Campus Bruxelles. Donnie is an ambassador for french-speaking belgian poetry, which he represented at the Trois-Rivières International Poetry Festival in 2014 and at the Printemps Poétique Transfrontalier (Cross-Border Poetry Spring) in 2018. In May 2019, his first novel collection Le cœur en Lesse (The heart in Lesse), was released by MEO publications. Since 2017, he has also been involved in theater. Founder of the theatrical group Compagnie du Réverbère, he staged a first performance at the Cité Miroir in Liege in May 2017. He is the author and director of this play entitled Au secours de la nuit (Help the Night). With the same team, he created a second play (entitled Les putes allemandes pleurent-elles dans les bras de Berlin?/Do German prostitutes cry in the arms of Berlin?) in May 2018, again at the Cité Miroir. In addition to his work with the Compagnie du Réverbère, Aurélien Dony is the author of a play entitled Pour qu'il pleuve (To Rain), which was staged in Mons in November 2018 as part of the Trajectoires festival. The play directed by Alexi Lezen, was restaged in April 2019 at the Courants d'Airs festival in Brussels. Aurélien Dony is also the lead singer and lyricist of the band Géminides.
