Kira Wuck (1978) is the daughter a Finnish mother and an Indonesian father. She studied at Utrecht Hogeschool (Polytechnic) and the Amsterdam School of Writing. With her first collection of poetry Finse meisjes (2012, Finnish Girls) she won three awards: Lucy B., C.W. van der Hoogt 2013 and Eline van Haaren. She has also published a book of short stories: Noodlanding (2016, Emergency Landing). In 2018, her second poetry collection entitled De zee heeft honger (The sea is hungry) was released. She has also won several awards for her surprise readings during poetry nights. With original images and irony, she describes, in a often melancholic way, a world where irrational elements flow into the everyday things.
