Jānis Vādons (né Jānis Veckrācis) was born in 1979. Vādons has studied translation, entrepreneurship and linguistics. He holds a doctoral degree in philology (2017). Since 2013, he is a professor at the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences. His works have been published since 2007. Vādons' first collection of poems Virve/ The Rope was published in 2011, and nominated for the Annual Latvian Literature Award for best debut. Among his greatest influences with regards to poetry are Latvian writers like Ojārs Vācietis, Pēters Brūveris, and Amanda Aizpuriete, as well as various Russian, American, Polish, Spanish, and Portuguese authors. Since 2015, he is one of the editors of the Domuzīme magazine.
