Ambra Simeone (1982) was born in Gaeta and currently lives and works in Brugherio. After graduating in Contemporary Literature, she pursued postgraduate studies in Contemporary Language and Literature. Her dissertation titled Lingua e variant in “Ritorno a Planaval” di Stefano Dal Bianco (Language and Variations in Stefano Dal Bianco’s “Return to Planaval”) was completed under the supervision of linguist Giuseppe Antonelli. Her debut poetry book Lingue Cattive (Captive Languages) was released by the publishing house Giulio Perrone Editore in Rome in 2010. In 2013, the publishing house deComporte released her collection of short stories Come John Fante… prima di addormentarmi (Like John Fante…before we fall asleep). Her most recent poetry collection Ho qualcose da dirti – quasi poesie (I have some poetry-like things to tell) was published by deComporte in 2014. Ambra Simeone and Ivan Pozzoni are joint publishers of Il Gustatore – quaderni Neon-Avanguardisti, which has featured authors such as Aldo Nove, Giampiero Neri, Peppe Lanzetta, Paolo Nori and more. Simeone was the editor of the anthology series Scrivere un punto interrogative by deComporte. Her articles and works have been published in literary magazines in both Italy and abroad, such as the Albanian Kuq e Zi, the Belgian Il caffè and the U.S. Italian Poetry Review. Simeone’s poetry has been featured in anthologies such as Il Quadernario Blu (publ. by LietoColle, ed. Giampiero Neri) and Il rumore delle parole (publ. by EditLet, ed. Giorgio Linguaglossa). Her works have been referenced by Gian Ruggero Manzoni, Franca Alaimo, Giampiero Neri, Giorgio Linguaglossa, Claudio Damiani, Nazario Pardini, Marzio Pieri and Stefano Guglielmin. In 2015, she won the Italian-Russian Raduga award for best young Italian author, and her award-winning short story was translated into Russian for the occasion.
