Emili Sánchez-Rubio (b. 1983) was raised in Palma de Mallorca. He graduated in Art History and participates in various music concerts and performances alongside visual artists and musicians. He regularly contributes literary reviews and reports on art events to the online magazine Núvol. He works as private tutor for elementary school and secondary education students. His published poetry collections are: “9+9=18+9=27. Casi 30 poems elegidos al azar” (9+9=18+9=27. Almost 30 poems randomly selected, publ. by Jujube, 2005), “Pájaros de plomo” (Birds made of lead, publ. by Calima, 2007, won the Art Jove de Poesia prize), “Revisar-te el nom” (Revise your name, publ. by Capaltard, 2008), “Breviari d’antípodes” (Breviary of the antipodes, publ. by Documenta Balear, 2008), “El ginjoler vessant son fruit” (The fruit of the leaning jujube tree, publ. by Fonoll, 2011, won the Joan Duch prize), “Jardín en construcción” (Garden under construction, publ. by Diputación Foral de Álava, 2010, won the Ernestina de Champourcín prize), “Tedi(o)” (Bor(e)dom, publ. by UIB, 2011), “Hemorragia” (Hemorrhage, publ. by La Baragaña, 2013), “De res nocturna. L’affrau del nigromant” (On the nature of night. The gorge of the necromancer, publ. by Lleonard Muntaner, 2015). His poem “La bellesa turbo” was featured in the poetic anthology “Els (in)continents eufòrics” (publ. by Jujube, 2007), while he was also the translator of Mitsuko Omitsu’s “Apedaçant calçons” (Mending underwear, publ. by La Baragaña). Sánchez-Rubio edited and prefaced the anthology “7516 Km. Un Puente entre Mallorca y Kemerovo” (publ. by IEB, 2015). His poetry has also been featured in various anthologies and many printed and online magazines, including La Hamaca de Lona, S’Encruia, S’Esclop, Pèl Capell and Nùvol. In 2013, Sánchez-Rubio took part in the conference “L’educació amb poesia entra millor” organized by the University of the Balearic Islands, and also organized the 1st Poetry festival at Inca, Mallorca, and the event “One Year of Poetry” that took place at Cultura Club, Palma de Mallorca. In 2008, he formed the band La Bellesa Turbo and released the demo “L’origen dels alfabets”. He currently works as editor of the show “Acquí cap Allà”, which is part of the radio program Las 3 manzanas aired by Barcelona Ràdio.
