Akis Parafelas was born in 1989 in Thessaloniki. He has a BA in Law and an MA in Criminal Law and Criminology, both from Aristotle University. He has also immersed in philosophy, making a second MA in Social and Political Thought at Sussex University. Professionally, after having engaged for some years in research, he works now as a public servant. He has published one poetry collection with the title para semantics (2018), which was awarded the Anagnostis Prize (Greek literary journal) for the Best Debut Poetry Collection, while it was also on the short list of Hellenic Authors' Society Awards. He has also translated poetry from German to Greek, and especially Björn Kuhligk's collection Die Sprache von Gibraltar (The language of Gibraltar).
