Maria Isern Ordeig (b. 1994) was raised in Vic. When she was young, she wanted to become a pianist; nevertheless, the discovery of Catalan literature, through the writings of Víctor Català, Mercè Rodoreda and Maria-Mercè Marça, to name a few, led her to study literature at the University of Barcelona and afterwards pursue postgraduate studies on the construction and representation of cultural identity. Her research was primarily focused on corporal representations and their textualization in contemporary literature, a subject which she has explored in many articles in scientific journals. She is regular contributor to the magazine Caràcters and member of the Cicuta audiovisual production group. In 2017, after winning the Franscec Garriga prize, she published the poetry collection “Sostre de carn” (Meat ceiling, publ. by LaBreu, AdiA, Cafè Central, del Buc), in which she explores the fantasy of a body’s infinite expansion and the pleasure and sadness it experiences when it discovers itself to be perforated all over. She currently lives in Barcelona and works in the field of social education, while also preparing her doctoral dissertation.
