Lieke Marsman (1990) published, after her studies in philosophy, her first poetry collection in 2010: Wat ik mezelf graag voorhoud, (Things That I Tell Myself), which in 2011 won three awards, the C Buddingh', Lucy B. and the CW van der Hoogtprijs. After her second poetry collection, De eerste letter (2014, The First Letter), a highly acclaimed novel on climate change was released in 2017, as well as a compilation of her poems, entitled Man met hoed (Man with hat). In 2018, the De volgende scan duurt 5 minuten (The Following Scan Will Last Five Minutes) on the successful treatment of her bone cancer was published. This work has been translated into English (2019). In her often humorous poetry, she appears physically aware and vulnerable.
