Rubén Luzón (b. 1982) was raised in Valencia and holds a Bachelor in Catalan and Spanish Literature from the University of Valencia. In 2005, he published the poetry collection “Cames ajudeu-me” (Feet, don’t fail me now), with which he won the César Simón poetry competition. His sophomore collection “Baladaspirina” won the Ausiàs March de Gandia poetry prize. In 2011, he was once again awarded, this time with the Vicent Andrés Estellés prize of the city of Burjassot, for his third poetry collection “Ai” (publ. in 2012), which also won the 2013 Valencian Literary Criticism award in the category of poetry. His fourth poetry collection “Sinò”, published in 2015 and containing fifty poems, won a monetary prize by the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia, in the framework of promoting literary creation in Catalonia. His fifth book “Alguna cosa” (Anything”, released in 2017, won him another Vicent Andrés Estellés award. His poems have been featured in the anthologies “Pedra Foguera: Antologia de poesia jove des països Catalans” (publ. in 2008) and “Tibar l’arc: Una Mirada a la poesia valenciana actual” (publ. in 2012). In 2016, he translated Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” into Catalan. He works as freelance translator and editor, and also as language consultant at the publishing house del Buc.
