Maren Kames (1984) was born in Überlingen at the Lake Constance area. She studied Cultural Science, Philosophy and Theatre Studies at Tübingen and Leipzig, and continued with further studies at the Institute for Literary Writing and Literature Studies of the University of Hildesheim. She made her poetic debut with Halb Taube Halb Pfau (Half Dove, Half Peacock, publ. by Secession), which won her a number of awards, including the Debut Poetry Prize of the City of Düsseldorf and the Anna Seghers Prize. This book was also adapted into the radio program titled 90o 0’ 0’’ S (produced by SWR, 2019) that won the award of the Academy for Performing Arts in Darmstadt in June 2019. Maren Kames was a working scholar and fellow at the Senate of Berlin, the Akademie Schloss Solitude and Villa Aurora in Los Angeles (U.S.A.). Her sophomore poetry book Luna Luna was released in August 2019, once again by Secession. Her contributions in this anthology were originally published in Halb Taube Halb Pfau.
