Haukur Ingvarsson (b. 1979) is equally an iconoclast and a traditionalist, a poet of nature and the city, a serious intellectual and a grinning fool. He finished a masters degree in Icelandic literature in 2005 and has since worked as a writer, radio journalist and independent scholar. His first book of poetry was published in 2005, followed by a book on the late novels of Icelandic Nobel laureate Halldor Laxness (2009) and the historical novel November 1976 (2011, published in German 2016). For his latest book, Vistarverur/Ecostentialism (2018), Ingvarsson won the prestigious Tomas Gudmundsson literary price. Ingvarsson is currently working on his PhD thesis where he focuses on the reception of American novelist William Faulkner in Iceland.
