Madara Gruntmane (1981) studied at the Liepāja Emīls Melngailis music school as a pianist, and later graduated from the Baltic International Academy with a degree in Cultural Project Management. She works with creative collectives as a producer of cultural events. She is the author of many cultural projects that have gained popularity in Latvia, and has had wide experience internationally. In 2016, Madara Gruntmane participated in the international graphic arts festival "Printmaking IN" workshop, in the Creative Summer Workshops, as well as Poetry Days events in Riga and Liepāja. Gruntmane has been writing poetry from a very early age, but her début publication in the “Latvju Teksti” magazine in 2015 made her known to the wider public. In the autumn of the same year, “Neputns” published her first collection of poetry titled Narkozes/ Narcoses, for which she received the Annual Latvian Literature's Reader's Choice Award. Currently Gruntmane is working on her second book of poems.
