Méloé Gennai (1986) was born in Geneva to a father of Hungarian-Italian descent and a mother of Swiss-Jamaican descent. He studied German Language and History and is also a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Geneva. He is active as poet and performer since 2008. Gennai has received invitations to present his works in many places, from Switzerland to Madagascar. He works as teacher and is at the same time involved in activism for various minority rights’ groups. He writes in French, English and German, exploring subjects such as genre, relationships, life abroad and daily routine. He was awarded the poetry prize of the 2012 Robert Goffin Biennale and his debut poetry book was released in 2017. He was recently awarded a fellowship from the City of Geneva for 2018-2020. He loves black tea and walnut praline.
