Nikos Filntisis, was born in 1987 in Athens, but grew up in Gargaliani, South Peloponnese. He studied Biology at the University of Crete and worked at the Instutite of Technology and Research on the development and enhancement of vaccines. Later, he moved to the U.K. to continue his studies. In 2012, he completed his MSc studies in Immunology at King’s College London. In the same year, his first book Το παραβάν (To paravan, transl. The screen, Odos Panos Publications) was shortlisted for the Hellenic Authors' Society, Emerging Poet Award "Yiannis Varveris”. In 2013, he started his PhD studies in the field of developing therapeutic vaccines for various cancer types. Two years later, he quits his studies and lives for a short time in the USA, which he crossed coast-to-coast by car. In 2016, he returns to Greece and publishes υδράργυρος (ydrargyros, transl. hydrargyrum, Odos Panos Publications), his second book. He is currently living and working in Athens in the sector of food industry. Reviews and poems of his have been published both inprinted and digital literature magazines. In 2021, his third book όλα τα αδέσποτα γατιά του ονείρου μου (ola ta adespota gatia tou oneirou mou, transl. all the stray cats of my dream) was published by Mikri Arktos Publications, accompanied by a CD, in which selected poems have been set to music by Michalis Kalogerakis.
