Radna Fabias (1983) was born in Curacao, the largest Caribbean island in the Netherlands Antilles. At the age of seventeen she came to the Netherlands. She studied at the Utrecht School of the Arts. Her first poetry collection Habitus (2018) exploded like a bomb; for it she won three major poetry awards: C. Buddingh', Awater Poëzieprijs and De Grote Poëzieprijs. In this book, which has been translated into French and will soon be published in English, the Caribbean island and the Netherlands play a central role, with topics such as origin, identity and physicality. She describes with a cinematic writing, in a critical and ironic way, the position of the immigrant and the two worlds in which she moves.
