Diego Conticello (1984) was born in Catania and graduated from the University of Padua. His diploma thesis La Curva Mediterranea: Caratteri de la Poesia Contemporanea in Sicilia (The Mediterranean Curve: Figures of Contemporary Sicilian Poetry) explored the lives and careers of a series of poets, among which Piccolo, Cattafi, Freni, Zinna, De Vita and Scandurra; the abovementioned poets and their works will be the subject of a series of monographs that will be published in the future. In 2009, he published a book dedicated to Lucio Piccolo under the title Lucio Piccolo: Poesia per immagini nel vento di Soave (Lucio Piccolo: Poetry for imagining the gentle wind). Conticello made his poetic debut in 2010 with the collection Barocco Amorale (Amoral Baroque, publ. by LietoColle with a preface by Silvio Ramat) and he is among the founders of the literary criticism website Carteggi letterari. He is author of various works and book reviews featured in various media, such the magazines Capoverso, Incroci, Arenaria, QuiLibri and Euterpe and the blogs La dimora del tempo sospeso, Nuovi Argomenti, In realtà la poesia, Imperfetta Ellisse, Critica Impura, Poetarum Silva, La poesia e lo spirit, LaRecherche, Tellusfolio, Compitu re vivi, Wordsocialforum and Il giardino dei poeti. He authored the entries for Piccolo, Calogero, Ripellino, Zinna, De Vita and Scandurra that were included in the Dizionario dei poeti (Dictionary of Poets), edited by Mario Fresa for the publishing company Dante Alighieri. In 2012, a number of his poems were translated into Spanish by Pablo Lòpez Carbàllo for the annual literary journal Fragmenta II.
