Mireia Calafell (b. 1980) is native of Barcelona. She has released the poetry collections “Poètiques del cos” (Poetics of the body, publ. by Galerada, 2006), “Costures” (Seams, publ. by Viena Edicions, 2010), and “Tantes mudes” (How many mute women, publ. by Perifèric, 2014, translated into Spanish and released by Stendhal Books). Among other awards, she has won the Amadeu Oller prize (2006), the Memorial Anna Dodas (2008), the Josep M. López Picó (2009), while “Tantes Mudes” was also awarded the Lletra d’Or prize for best book in Catalan (2015). Her poetry has been featured in anthologies published in Argentina, Brazil, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and Spain. She has participated in international poetry festivals in Luxemburg, Buenos Aires, Pontevedra, Edinburgh, Lithuania, and Toronto, and she has also given poetry recitals in Italy, China, Finland and other countries. Calafell is currently joint director of the poetry festival Barcelona Poesia.
